PROJECT GUIDE · REPORTING
A weekly Google Sheets report.
Less copying. Clearer checks.
Turn recurring exports into a consistent weekly summary, with documented definitions and an exception list.
Start with the decisions—not a chart.
- Define the week. Choose the week boundary, time zone, and treatment of late records. Save the original export unchanged.
- Agree on the metrics. Define gross, refunds, net, and order count. Name the currency and identify whether taxes or fees are included.
- Separate inputs from outputs. Use a raw-data tab, a checked transformation, a report tab, and an exceptions tab.
- Choose the refresh. Manual CSV replacement may be enough. Scheduled connectors or scripts need permissions, a cost estimate, an owner, and failure alerts.
- Test two weeks. Reconcile each weekly total to the supplied source and test a missing column, a duplicate import, and an empty week.
DOWNLOADABLE FICTIONAL SAMPLE
A starting report dataset
Three teams: gross 5,150; refunds 125; net 5,025. These are illustrative amounts, not client revenue or claimed results.
Download sample CSVSuggested report: sum gross and refunds by week, calculate net as gross minus refunds, and total order counts. Keep the original currency column so different currencies are not added together.
Inspect another worked report and its source or check a CSV locally.
What a scoped delivery includes
Reusable output
An agreed report structure, metric definitions, and a refresh procedure using your permitted inputs.
Visible exceptions
Missing amounts, repeated imports, and unexpected source changes are flagged for review instead of disappearing.
A handoff
A named refresh owner, test cases, access requirements, and maintenance steps. Live integrations are separately scoped.
Common questions
Do I need AI for this?
Often not. Formulas, queries, or a small script may be more predictable. AI can assist explanations, but reconciled totals should come from defined calculations.
Can we begin with exported files?
Yes. Redacted exports and a sample of the report you want are enough to scope a first version. Account connections are considered only when needed.
Want this built for your business?
Start with an editable request. Add your files, current process, target result, and budget if you have them.
